Floors and walls and ceilings, oh my

The big news this week is that we have new walls - they've been putting up sheet rock on the ceilings and walls on the first floor, and they're pretty close to being done.

That last picture is the kitchen; that's the pantry there in the middle. Here's a look at the ceiling, with the recessed lighting:

We picked out a floor for the kitchen. We decided to go with a fiberglass floor. We were able to take home a sample to see if we still liked it, and we do:

It goes very well with the laminate counter tops we picked out and the white cabinets. We'll need some color, though, probably in the form of a back splash. We'll probably use small white mosaic tiles in the laundry room and smaller black and white pattern tile in the half bath.

We will be able to use some floor boards from Caravati's in the front room...at a price of $10 a square foot. We still don't know what we'll use in the dining room. We're definitely going with hardwood, we just don't know what kind yet.

So my parents are coming to visit this weekend...they haven't seen the house yet. I'm a little nervous; they might drag me back home with them.
