Mary Alice: Richmond, Virginia; I married a wonderful man...and his fixer upper. Living in a 150-year-old house that's being renovated wasn't exactly how I pictured our first years of marriage. And if we (...and our marriage) can survive this, I think we can handle just about anything that life throws at us.

So I started writing a blog as way to keep a journal about the experiences of renovating an old house. It's also a great way for our friends and family to see the progress.

So why the name Urban Camping? Long story short, it's the term Michael came up with to describe the house because the climate inside was often the same as the outside, due to leaks and the lack of proper insulation and heating/cooling. I'm happy to report that those days are behind us, for the most part, and the house is quite comfortable now. But we're not finished yet, and this house continues to surprise us.
