The roof, the roof, the roof is torn down
The roof of the porch was torn down today (yay!). The more of that porch that's demolished, the better.

Yes, that is a refrigerator on the right in that last picture.
More importantly, we now have a back door again and a new kitchen window that was moved from the side of the house to the back. The kitchen is closed in completely, so we have a door with a lock instead of boards covering the interior doorways. Check it out:



Remember how we're wondering whether to keep the brick exposed in the kitchen? Turns out it's not an option, really. There's some brick that needs repairing over the doorway to the dining room, so it won't look nice after it's fixed, plus we need a wall to hold up the ceiling joists and provide light sockets.

I probably won't post pictures of tomorrow's work until next week. We're out of town, again, this weekend. Two nights in a hotel! I've never loved hotels so much until I lived in this house.
